"Technology operations and concepts. Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations."
- ISTE Standards for Students
In 2015, students are using social media dozens of times every day. The goal of this activity is to teach students to use social media to market themselves to potential employers or graduate schools. This lesson is meant for college senior students in KSU 4401, or a similar course. This lesson aligns with ISTE's sixth standard in that it allows students to "transfer current knowledge to learning
of new technologies" (ISTE Standards for Students, 6d).
For this assignment, students must create a LinkedIn profile. This aligns with ISTE's sixth standard in that the students must "understand and use technology systems" (ISTE Standards for Students, 6a). The students must create a full profile which includes a profile picture, background information, work experience, and education. They must represent themselves in a professional manner online, with a professional profile photo and complete profile with no spelling or grammar errors. This aligns with ISTE's sixth standard in that the students must "select and use applications effectively and productively" (ISTE Standards for Students, 6b).
Below you will find the rubric on which the assignment will be graded. You can also find a downloadable copy of the rubric below.
