This Fall, I was the Graduate Assistant and Student Facilitator for three sections of a Senior Seminar Course. I was working directly with Dr. Joan Dominick. The purpose of this course is to prepare students to be successful after graduation. The coursework culminated in a final portfolio.
As a student facilitator, I provided one-on-one guidance as well as classroom instruction. I lead multiple seminars on going to graduate school, creating a web-based portfolio, networking, and other such topics. I used my own personal experiences to display the lessons I have learned since I graduate college.
I also created a webiste, livebinder, and blog to share with the students. Included on these websites are links to the course website, "The Complete Graduate Resource" as well as links to my video lessons, examples of work I have done, and personal experiences I chose to share with the class.

The classroom we used was often under construction, so we were forced to meet online. I used my knowledge gained through the MEd program to digitize a few of my seminars. I created an abridged version of my introduction, as well as a seminar on going to graduate school and emailed them to the students in the courses. I then invited them to contact me if they had any follow up questions, or wanted to learn more. This worked well, and I had one-on-one meetings with many of the students regarding these topics.

Additionally, my mentor and I, along with two other professionals at Kennesaw State University, were selected to present at a peer-reviewed conference. The Association for Authentic, Experiential, and Evidence Based Learning hosted their Southeastern Conference in Athens, GA on November 9th and 10th of 2015. We gave a roundtable presentation entitled, "The ePortfolio Swap Meet: Exchanging Ideas + Sharing Resources + Exploring How ePortfolios Enhance Integrative Learning from College Entry to Life After College." The purpose of this presentation was to open a discussion and exchange ideas regarding the use of electronic portfolios as a way to showcase student work. Additionally, we discussed the ways in which portfolios can help in the transition to life after college.
This practicum experience has allowed me to showcase the knowledge and skills I have learned through the Higher Education Administration Program. I have learned from my mentor the importance of putting students first and giving them the tools to create learning opportunities for themselves. I have had the pleasure of watching students grow and discover who they are capable of becoming rather than being complacent with who they currently are.
This experience has been invaluable. In conjunction with the other courses in the Higher Education Administration program, I have become an effective leader in the field of Higher Education. This is due, almost entirely, to the faculty of the Higher Education Administration program at Georgia Southern, Dr. Joan Dominick at Kennesaw State University, and the challenges that I have tacked through their guidance and support.
